This is a Belted Kingfisher. I usually find them near water and they are very wary birds whenever I try to get a picture of them which makes them very difficult. I totally did not expect this one to fly right over my head when I was no where near any water. I am still looking to get a better photo of them.

I agree, very difficult to capture. Just look in their direction and they're gone!!

The first photo is an American Kestrel that was defending his territory by trying to run off a Redtail Hawk then the Redtail Hawk turned the tables. The rest are of Redtail Hawks.

Cedar Waxwings. The 5th photo is of a juvenile Cedar Waxwing. The last photo I was able to catch 3 of about 7 Cedar Waxwings that were coming to a mulberry tree that the birds planted in my yard. That tree, while I don't really like where they planted it has been a huge draw for birds when the fruit is ripe and I can take their pictures right from the comfort of my deck.

The first one is my favorite of all my cardinals. I took this one at Kendall campground below Wolf Creek Dam at Lake Cumberland KY. He is sitting on a grill that is provided by the campground and is about 12 to 15 feet away. The second photo, was me playing around with photoshop to see if I could make a cardinal look like the UofL cardinal mascot. The 6th photo was a cardinal that was coming to my neighbors feeder. He was looking pretty rough during the molt. The rest where taken in my yard.

A Peregrine Falcon. This was a total surprise, it was just getting light and I thought I was taking a picture of a Kestrel. When I adjusted the lighting in Lightroom I found out it was a Peregrine Falcon. It is the first one seen in Oldham County, where I live, that I know of.
