You know I never thought about it but you could a paparazzi Rick. Maybe hang out down at the Viper room or something... :)

I don't think that's my style at this point. I like to try to make people look good and interesting. Not nec. catch the moments celebs don't want us to see :). worth thinking about though....

Funny I was going to PM you about a sideshow the other day, but go side tracked.

Another sound track to use would be The Doors - "People are strange"

If you use it and make anything off of it I won't hold it to you that I though of it first. :p:p:p

Snow White
FABULOUS slide show, Rick! Your black and white portraits show so much emotion . . . loved the whole show and even the soundtrack!

Rick, I really admire your photography. Your candid shots are fantastic. What lens do you generally use to capture these images? You know, I've been trying to do street photography but I just get so insecure pointing a camera at a stranger so that nearly all my shots are full blown 300mm shots. And it's not like I'm a shy person, quite the opposite. There's just something about it that gets me all uncomfortable. Any suggestions on shedding that sense of intrusion?

I am typically 5 to 20 feet from my subjects. I am in plain sight and want them to see I am taking their picture. I am looking for either their reaction to the camera or when it seems like they expose something in their personality. I find an interesting person and focus in on them and watch and shoot a few shots till I feel I have a good image. Lately the people have been walking towards me as I shoot and they come within 6 inches to 1 foot as they pass me. They see me looking at them and pushing the button. No one seems to mind they just go about their day.

I just shoot like I'm supposed to be there. There is no sense of intrusion or nervousness on my part and in turn I think they feel the same.

But I am shooting in Hollywood where things are not quite the same as the midwest or other parts of the country.

I use a 70-300mm f4.5/5.6 lens 90% of the time. By the time they are within 5 to 6 feet of me I only see part of their face in the frame.

I keep seem to be shooting tighter and tighter crops ;)

Hope this helps.

Seriously, I love the first shot of the two ladies. With the sunglasses, they look so close to being the same person. I did a double take to see if maybe you took two and layered them. that one is my favorite. Very well done. (as always you Rock)!
