In Cuzco it was cool today but definitely cold at night. About 62 in the day and 39 at night. Rained all morning but we were out and hiking about by 8 am - stayed out till about 7:30 pm. It was chilly then . The altitude affected Thyra this morning but by midday she was okay. For some reason it did not have the same affect on me...
Went fora horseback ride in the mountains above Cuzco. First stop an ancient salt production field with 3,000 salt pools fed by a small deep mountain salt water stream about 6 inches wide. Then nothing but amazing views of the Andes Mountains.
The bird was shot with my D5100 and 70-300mm 4.5 VR while sitting in and bouncy canoe and having a great day! I don't know what kind of bird it is but very cool. We also saw this elusive river otter who to me looked like a Dr. Seuss character. (Same boat, camera and lens combo)
She is beautiful and I loved the pictures of her on your photobucket slideshow.
That interesting bird has some quirky characteristics. Check it out: Hoatzin
