Day Twenty Five

Today has been that one day from hell where nothing went right. I had to grab anything that didn't move and shoot it.
I hope tomorrow will be an easier day.

Yes she's adorable. My mum used to have one like her. They are great company dogs for elderly persons.
Nice capture.

Day Thirty

We were driving to Richmond Saturday when this sign caught my wife's eye. I decided to again drive the 40 miles each way to share it with all of you. English Majors, note... I just took the picture, I didn't misspell the last two words. (Something even spell check wouldn't catch).

Day Thirty One

One Full Month... and I as surprised I lasted the first week. Other than struggling to find someting to shoot at, I'm having a bit of fun at this.

I sort of liked shooting this dark shot. Lights in the room were off. This is the best of about 10 shots. It was 3 seconds. Longer times were too bright, shorter were too dark.

Stay with it Mike, I found the first 30days were hard, but the hopes for longer nicer days kept me going last year. A word of warning the last 60 days were hard too. Seams like after we moved the clocks back it was harder to get out.

Day Thirty Two

What to do? What to do?
My wife left me today (She's comeing back after the weekend). I now have nobody to help me find things to photograph.

I saw this on top of her Jewelry box and thought... Hmmmm Jewelry can always fill in on bad days. It also gives me a chance to play with NO flash and longer exposures.

This little bracelet is one long strand that you wind around your wrist. The grey hexagonal beads are really magnets that hold the entire thing together.

Day Thirty Three

I've been meaning to risk the trip out to this tree. The closest place to park is about a quarter mile away. Since my handicap prevents me from making long hikes, I had to pause often. It took me almost 30 minutes to make the hike. I had about 15 minutes to shoot, and then a 30 minute hike back to the car. I'm happy with the photo (my second HDR attempt) because my camera won't bracket so they are manually set shutter speeds, and hand held. Maybe I should try taking my tripod and using it as a walking stick.

Back to the tree. I have no clue how old it really is, but rumors are somewhere in the 3 to 4 hundred range. The Trunk at the base is about 8 feet across. Anyway. Enjoy.

Wonderful shot Mike. It was worth the trip. Seems you got there just at the right time of day too.

Thank you Pete and Rick and Marcel.

I planned my arrival for about 30 minutes before sunset, and thought I might have blown the timing because I didn't realize the walk was so far. I tried some shots with the trunk blocking the setting sun, but they just didn't have any impact, so I shifted around so the sun was to the left. I think I really need to get a new camera so I can bracket. Doing it manually stinks.

Mike,

I just love this picture. It sounds as though it was a real risk taker for you to get this shot. You need a four wheeler or golf cart! :-D
Joking aside, please take care of yourself buddy; be carefully out there.

Now a golf cart would have gone over very well for me, but not the property owner. I had to walk because it is "Posted" property. I could have shot from the road, but then no mountains or sunset in the background.

What ails me is called COPD which is just a new fancy name for Emphysema. It also gives them the opportunity to charge more for the Meds (new name, new meds). It just keeps me from being able to keep up with all you young people.
