Mike, I love your pet photos. I am so sorry about Shylo ---that cancer was what took out my little Jojo. Good luck to both of you.

Thank you Helen, and Thank you to all the others.
Shylo starts a 15 week intensive Chemo on Friday. It's about the cost of a new D7000 + an 18-105 Lens, has a fair to good success rate. Alternative treatments are about the cost of a new D4 Body.

Day Twelve

My wife had a doctor's appt this afternoon. I waited outside and watched the continued construction of a new emergency care center they are building. The hospital that will run it uses the Treat First, get paperwork later rule. They claim less that 15 minutes wait. Hope they can keep it up. What caught my eye was the two bright flags in an otherwise dreary setting.

Day Thirteen

I was dropping the wife off at work and noticed the moon framed (sort of) by the power lines. I just thought it had the potential for a good photo. After some cropping it turned out OK, but not spectacular. I used it anyway because I'm going to be busy tonight

As you can see... It's a Christmas Angel. I decided to keep some of the decorations up to remind me that the Christmas bills aren't paid off yet.

OK, truth is, we forgot to pack this one.

Hope all the best for Shylo and the chemo today, think good thoughts :)

Thank you all. Shylo came through her Chemo quite well. The procedure seems to have zapped some of her energy, but that should return after a couple of days. Treatment number two in three weeks. Shylo is very protective of my wife. Nobody gets close to my wife when Shylo's around. (including me sometimes.)

Day Sixteen

OK, I'm going to post two photos today. My reason is because I want to.

I had to drive up to Fredricksburg after work today. My Daughter and Son-in-law's wireless died. I picked up a new router on the way and drove the 90 minutes up there.
After fixing their network, (leave it to the old guys to continuously bail out the younger ones), I got the idea for these photos.
My son-in-law has been collecting beer bottles since he was 14. This was ok with his parents as long as they stay unopened. He has amassed a huge collection of beer now. None of these bottles and cans have been opened, and there are no duplicates. I had the lens cranked down to 18mm and still missed a couple of smaller shelves.

The second picture is for fun. It's one of my favorites. I found this brand near Cleveland Ohio and bought a couple of six packs. My son-in-law and I had fun sampling them.

Day Seventeen

Ok, two things on this photo. First, I almost lost this shot because I couldn't find a place to pull over.
Second, It's my first real attempt at HDR (I think I've figured out how it's supposed to work). I don't have bracketing on my camera, so I took three shots handheld in Manual mode and changed the shutter speed with each shot. Then I cropped the excess from the top and bottom making it appear as a panorama. I just wish I could have found a location without any power lines.

Day Eighteen

I had to stay in bed sick all day today. Time almost got away from me. I decided to plug on the 105 and see what I could get a close up of. Wife told me to go jump in a lake so I found some screws left over from an old drywall project. This gives me the idea to keep the 105 in place and look for textures next.

All nice shots, bud. You haven't lost your touch yet. :) I really like the shot of the screws myself...very cool. The beer shot is hilarious! :)
