Neat snap Mike. I have been trying for the past couple of weeks to "see" everything in the frame before I make the snap and trying to pay as much attention to my backgrounds as my subject. It is amazing to me what the camera catches that the eye doesn't pick up on right away. I think I have "blown highlights" in the part of my brain that works with my eyes! LOL

Actually I think the eye sees everything but the brain selectively decides what gets recognized. My mind was focused on trying to catch the bee, so that's what the brain allowed me to see.

Playing around with some light and some CDs. Kinda liked the result, and (lazy as I am) it fits into the weekly challange category.

PS: I'll probably wait until Saturday evening to see if anything better show up for the Weekly.

Not going on a trip (yet) but going to try some GeoCaching near work tomorrow. Evidently there is a Cache within 100 yards of where I work. Maybe I can find it and photograph it.

Mike, I'm a little behind looking at everybody's posts. Your work has improved by leaps and bounds in creativity and technique since you first started this project. You've done some great work! Keep it up :)

Today's the Half Way Point. Was at a wedding all day, so didn't have time to shoot much. Thought this would kill two birds with one stone. It's going to be my weekly entry also.

It's been a little hot here the last few days. Decided to recharge the AC on the old car. At least I'll be comfortable driving.

Did you ever have one of those days when nothing you did turned out right? Well yesterday was one of those. I didn't even get time to log on. Once I realized it was getting dark, I set the camera up outside. Now going from a cool inside to hot muggy outside causes the lens to fog up. It took almost 10 minutes to clear up. I didn't want to drive anywhere so I waited until the moon cleared the trees. This shot was taken about 11 pm. Remember that I get up at 4 to go to work so I was almost useless today.

Most of the flowers are wilting. I guess 10 consecutive days of 95+ degrees (2 at 105+ and another 3 at 100+) doesn't help them much. Anyway, I had to get some before the petals fell completely off.

Hey, a fellow GeoCacher! Never go out "Caching" without a camera. Can always find something to shoot, then again we go out in the country.

Didn't think about the camera. Did find the Cache, but my "OLD" Garmin was designed for Car travel, not foot. Good think a friend had his GPS smart phone. His led us right to it. Mine said we were still 200ft away. I guess that's someting else I'll have to save up for.

I had a few spare minutes before a car repair appt so I decided to cruise through a very old cemetary. I do need to go back when the weather cools off a little. Here's one of the shots. (Look like it will work as a weekly shot too)

I try to make sure the patio umbrella gets opened several times a week to discourage wasps and other critters from nesting under there. I saw this pattern and decided it would be a cool shot. I didn't remember that a camera/lens at 70 degrees with low humidity going to 95+ with high humidity would take about 10 minutes to fully clear the fog off the surfaces. Needless to say I did finally get the shot.

Hard to go find something to shoot when your doc says to stay inside. This shot (taken yesterday but posted today) was taken by opening the kitchen window and screen just enough to get the lens through. Then wait for the dove to show up.

I found a box of fuzzy balls while helping clean the basement. I asked the wife what they were for, and she calmly said they were for me to take a picture of. I think she has other plans for them, but why look a gift horse in the mouth.

The harvest has begun. These are the first of the "RED" tomatos. Granted, they're cherry tomatos but a sign the eating will soon begin.

I will be the first to admit that this is a crappy shot. After 12 hours at work, I'm not going to try and find something else to shoot. The time stamp on the photo says 5:15 am but it was really 6:15. I guess my camera doesn't set the time forward in the spring. I was going to use the tripod, but I had taken it out of the trunk this weekend. I had to boost the ISO to 800 in order to get a non blurry shot. The D-60 shots start to suck at 400 so this one is real grainy. Anyway. Today's picture is a lazy cop out of a shot but it counts.

2012-192.jpg

Oh Yea... The tripod went back in the trunk as soon as I got home.

Couldn't decide which of these to put up so I opted for both. first one is rather dull but the darn critter stuck it's tongue out at me in this shot only
Second one was just pretty but wouldn't stop flapping it's wings so they turned out a little soft.
