Because the Mods do need time to read posts and decide what to do. Thanks for mentioning it. They are now merged.

Are you using View NX2 or Capture NX-D? If View NX2, download the latest version, it works just fine. For full editing capabilities, use the new Capture NX-D

btw....is 72mg the size that the d810 nef files should be? I thought it would be 36 or so that the D800 was.

Well...I went out to recreate yesterday's shoot and now thanks to you all, that I have a way to view the photos, let me say the images are OUTSTANDING (quality wise at least) I'll post some later and again let me thank you for helping me get a grip on this issue. The members of this forum have really been great and I appreciate your expertise and more importantly your kindness...

I recommend you to recover all your RAW files from the SD card. It appears like the RAW files are missing.. Watch this tutorial which will show you what needs to be done Recover Raw Images from Camera SD Card - YouTube
