Technically I guess you can call this a portrait but i'm on the fence with the composition. I wanted to frame the subject using the leaves but that meant placing her in the lower third of the frame. Not something i normally do. What are your thoughts?

Given that the leaves have some bad spots on them they totally detract from your beautiful model. I would have tightened the shot and just show her or eliminated the leaves with PS.

Make it fun then you can get the model to co-operate and now the grand daughter is a tree climber!

Used a flash and umbrella at camera right, Sekonic Flash meter to get 30% flash contribution to the ambient light. Sky was bright with clouds going in front of the sun so light was constantly changing. Nikon D7000 with a Tamron F/2.8 70-200 lens. Flash was a Visitor 583 with manual mode ½ power.

I don't often get to take people pictures as my family won't let me shoot them to practice. But with the help of my neighbor they did on Sunday for some quick shots. Here are a few.

My son was hiding his face to not be photographed. I just sat and waited. I am more patient than he is.

This was shot back in 1991 when I was getting more into photography and starting to do some photography courses.

A shot of my dad. Man do I miss him. Can't believe it has been 17 years since he went home to his creator.
