I've not had a car for the last 2 years, I just cycle everywhere, but that's not always easy when you want to go out taking pictures, I have to carry the camera, lens and tripod (the tripod is lightweight, which is good to carry, but not steady when taking shots)

So the other day I was passing the local garage and spotted a nice Toyota aygo, and just at the right price, so went in, took it for a little test drive, and now its mine.

Not the best picture as it was raining when I got it home.

Congrats! That's a cute little bugger--not one that is sold here in the US though.

Don't the D5X00 grips have two in the grip with a peg that goes in the battery slot. It makes much more sense to me that way. With the MB-D15 grip, you have to take it off to access the on board battery.

My D100 grip had both batteries in the grip. Since then, all my grips have held one battery. I normally charge the grip battery often enough that I don't need to charge the battery in the camera very often. Even so, it's no big deal to remove the grip and access the battery in the body.

It just makes more sense. When I was comparing the 5500 and the 7100, it makes sense to have both batteries in the grip so you can leave the grip on. But alas, tradeoffs for other features

I know going OEM is the best route, but come on, $200+ for a grip? I've seen dozens of reviews that knockoffs are a close match. Have you had any testing with a knockoff compared to OEM?

Should I just spend 200 on OEM?
Offer to buy his :)

I went from the XIT grip to the Nikon grip on my D7100. Love it.

The idea of one battery in the grip and one in the camera has me baffled, just sounds stupid.
No issues with it here. It isn't like the grip is difficult to remove/replace.

I love the grip when I have my longer glass on, it balances the gear better. Also, the vertical position shutter button is handy as well.
