The Hoodeye came yesterday. It works good. I mounted it to the Vello LCD screen protector. Then to my camera. It blocks the light very well. But it feels a tad uncomfortable. Perhaps I'll get used to. I do like how it helps not getting smudges on your screen though.

Hi Steve.....hope the camera is still clicking away great for you. I miss it already....but one thing the Sony has is a rule of thirds screen in the EVF. I think that's kind of cool. I also bought this:

That thing is larger than I thought it would be - wonder how well it packs into camera bags / backpacks? Or is it something one takes off and only installs on sunny days when it is really needed?

It fits well in my back pack. I'm not sure yet if I'll leave it on all the time.

Just got in yesterday
Lowepro Event Messenger 250 - So far seems great. It holds all my stuff, d5100 with either 18-55mm or 18-200mm Sigma attached, Yongnuo 565EX flash + chinese soup takeout "light sphere", extra eneloops+charger, couple filters and other bits and pieces, with room to spare.

IR-Remote, I have a cable release which is good for "bulb" exposures, but the remote will be handy in other situations I think

Random impulse add-on: 6" mini tripod - it holds the D5100 + 18-55mm pretty steady and will do in a pinch if needed. Likely to go into the "never gets used pile" in a few months, but for $4 what the heck! lol

Can't wait to try this!

This is a great lens - one of my favourites. Use it all the time on my D5100. Even use it in crop mode on my D610 to take advantage of the F1.8 and 35mm is a nice wider view on an FX camera. Wee bit of vignetting on the D610 but nothing a little cropping can't fix.

Having been on a self-imposed assignment to shoot with nothing but my Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG for the past few weeks, I've re-learned to appreciate just how flexible, and just generally awesome, this lens is. My Nikon 35mm f/1.8G was "liberated" by the girlfriend some time ago and is all but permanently attached to her D5300 these days. She consistently manages to get great shots with it time and time again.
