Not exactly photo gear, but it will help me in the future with taking some images.

As I'm planning a 4-day back-country hike in Yellowstone this fall, I decided it's time I start planning what to do about food. Towards that end, I had two boxes show up at my door this morning. One had an Excalibur 3526TB dehydrator and the other a Weston 65-0501 vacuum sealer.

Now to relearn how to cook......... specially with dehydration, non-refridgerated shelf life, vac sealing and rehydrating in the sticks in mind.

Not a purchase per se, it was a Christmas gift that finally made it home. Had a chance to try it out. It is a magnifying attachment for the front of a lens - snaps onto any lens 43mm - 62mm. Tried it out on a 50 1.8, my 60 2.8 macro and my 70-200 zoom just for fun. I like the 50 best because it is the fastest and could shoot images without the flash issue - I didn't dig out my flash 'arm' attachment gizmo that can position LED lights where I want them for macro shots, but flash lighting for macro's gets interesting when the lens is mere millimeters from the subject - so being able to shoot at 1.8 is good - but oh the narrow DOF.

A coupe of real quick examples.

I'm getting disappointed with Amazon Prime here lately. The last two orders, at least part of the order has been delayed and not arrived within the 2-day shipping window expected and one of those items I had paid for expedited shipping. Hard to satisfy the instant gratification urge when it takes 3+ days ...

You're doing it all out on the Yongnuos! Got batteries for the 560TX too?

Oh that sucks ! ours is pretty good over the pond, I haven't had a late delivery yet and its either same day or next day.

The 560TX is only 2 AA's so I will just use alkaline ones for that, I cant see it using much power compared to the flashes :)

I have the 560 II and 2 random flashes but I want ones that I can control off the camera, I was looking at different triggers but there didnt seem to be any that would "work" with my flashes to just decided to get some new ones :)
