"1 Shade of Grey"

This hornet got more than he bargained for when he dropped into a pot of grey paint. Still, he later flew away, somewhat whiter if not wiser.

Itsy bitys spider

BTW I found that the on board flash would not fire when I was using liveview. Use the view finder it flashes. Try manual focus, live view (magnified) and while the shutter releases and I get the image it is dark and ISO (auto) gets cranked way up there (2000). I was hand holding non VC 105mm 2.8 Nikkor AFD. This was one tiny spider on a web in mid air. Autofocus invariably would get something in the background. I found that I would focus on a leave near the spider. shut off AF then try to manually move in and out to get the exact focus. Tried multiple shutter (C) and this did result in a few 'ok' shots. None as much in focus as I would like. Need a little more DOF than I was getting.

Maybe when my Kenko extension tubes arrive I'll get better close up shots? Need to learn more about macro technique obviously.
