Way out of my comfort zone when it comes to photographing an airshow. I'm used to landscapes/travel with occasional wildlife. However, it's always good to try something new and challenging. And it was challenging for me taking photos with all of the fast action and noise going on. Plus, the distances required me to use most of the 300mm zoom's reach.
Patuxent River Naval Base, Maryland - Airshow - June 2018. Blue Angels were the feature, but there were other participants. These photos were from the pyrotechnic segment with "Shock Wave" (a 3-jet-engine-powered semi that was so insane it was hilarious - and I say that in a complementary way) and one of the private stunt planes. Hope you enjoy.

Pilot Rob Holland and his MXS-RH carbon fiber stunt plane fly inverted past the fire wall.

Shock Wave - Incredibly LOUD! Incredibly FAST! (350+MPH)

Another shot of Shock Wave in action. Fuel economy measured in fractions of an inch per gallon.
Still sorting through over 1,200 photos. Will try to pick a few of the better ones to share.
Again, not the photographic venue I'm used to, but it's good to get out of your comfort zone once in a while.
