After weeks of warm-cold-warm-cold-hot, we're back to cold again today. Just a few days ago, it was in the 80s (see photos I posted just above^^^). Mother hen (and chicks) in my wife's garden is hoping for summer to arrive soon!

Well, I think spring is finally here to stay. Found a pair of Morning Doves nesting in the small tree in our front yard.

Trying out my "new" used Nikon 55x300 lens.

Admittedly not a great quality photo but I wanted to keep my distance and there's lots of leaves on the tree now. Mom was away from the nest for a few minutes so I had to act quickly.

A follow-up on my photo of the mourning dove in post #322 above:

OK - It's Memorial Day and I went down to visit my folks at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown/Grafton.

The local civic groups (Scouts, VFW, etc) have placed small flags on each of the thousands of graves.
The folks at the National Cemetery also had large flags up along the roadways. Very nice!
My parents' grave is near the flag that is visible behind the trees on the right at the top of the hill.

My father (Samuel B. Elyard). My mother's inscription is on the other side of the marker. They are buried together.

Tried the new (used) AF-S Nikkor 55-300mm VR lens at the Pax River Airshow this past weekend. Lots of fast action, which is a change from my usual landscape/travel photos. Two days and 1,200 photos later, I think I have about 100 keepers. And a horribly sunburned nose.

"Class of '45" demo included an Army Air Corps P-51 Mustang and Navy F-4U Corsair. My dad would have loved to see this!!

Lots of history here!

After posting an image I had done with the D810 in this forum I thought I should do it right this time. With Sigma's 105 macro.

Way out of my comfort zone when it comes to photographing an airshow. I'm used to landscapes/travel with occasional wildlife. However, it's always good to try something new and challenging. And it was challenging for me taking photos with all of the fast action and noise going on. Plus, the distances required me to use most of the 300mm zoom's reach.

Patuxent River Naval Base, Maryland - Airshow - June 2018. Blue Angels were the feature, but there were other participants. These photos were from the pyrotechnic segment with "Shock Wave" (a 3-jet-engine-powered semi that was so insane it was hilarious - and I say that in a complementary way) and one of the private stunt planes. Hope you enjoy.

Shock Wave - Incredibly LOUD! Incredibly FAST! (350+MPH)

Another shot of Shock Wave in action. Fuel economy measured in fractions of an inch per gallon.

Still sorting through over 1,200 photos. Will try to pick a few of the better ones to share.

Again, not the photographic venue I'm used to, but it's good to get out of your comfort zone once in a while.
