Interesting story about the SwissAir Airbus. He was going for 24L (saw him from my back porch), but then he came over me to land on Runway 28. That is how i got the pictures. He apparently did not like the conditions on 24L, to much snow cover. Better safe than sorry. It was really nice to see him. I have been wanting a pic of him for some time now.

There is an App for iPhone (not sure about other platforms) that will tell you who and what is flying above you. Look up Wofram Alpha. I think there are others as well.

Disclaimer this was taken before I got my Nikon and all I did was set up camera and hand to my 9yr old son as I stopped on the side of the road Thought it might be fun to see if you know what it is. The road behind our property is in line with the runway so I quite often catch a plane in the backgrounds of my photos but haven't tried capturing a plane purposely so maybe I'll give it a try maybe it'll be easier than capturing birds in flight haha
