320 mm???? That is a change!!! (Nice Shot)

Precisely! Most of the shots here are done at 600 mm. Which makes you think that we probably would be better off with a long prime telephoto. However, all available long primes cost an arm and a leg. Why can't Tamron or Sigma make a 600 mm f/6.5 prime? Certainly, it would be better IQ, smaller and cheaper than the 150-600 zoom.

I said this on the forum a long time ago and was told there would not be a market for one,i dont accept this though,i use all focal lengths on my Tamron but mostly post 600mm on here as that is going to give the poorest IQ,so the most use as info.

It's brilliant as a zoom, the 600mm is the novelty aspect that most people have never had before but it excels at shorter length as well.
Do you really think a Tamron 600mm prime would be cheaper than the 150-600 ... I seriously doubt that, the only reason anyone would want the prime would be to get a wider aperture, say f4 even f5.6.
As an example, consider the similar Sigma 50-500 or 150-500 f5.6-f6.3 ... under £1k, whereas the Sigma 500 f4.5 in over £4k!

I ran across this lens in the store today and had to snap it up. I took it for a run thru at the local zoo. I didn't have a tripod, but found that even hand held the images are amazing. Can't wait to really put it to the test.
