I took a photo at 300mm with my Tamron handheld of a man throwing a cast net and then cropped out just the man out of the same picture so you could see how well it holds up. Check out his tattoo and detail in the cropped image.

One of these images was taken with my 50mm lens on the D600 and the other image is taken with the Tamron lens at 600mm in the DX mode on my D600. If you look very close on the bigger view the same tree with the Osprey on it is sitting in the same place just taken with a different lens from exactly the same place.

So although I've posted pictures in various other forms since taking up photography a few months ago, I've lurked here and had been jealous of the photos people have been posting with this lens. About a month ago, I finally broke down and put my name on the list for one of these at a National Camera Exchange closest to my home. Since these have been on back order for so long, I figured it'll be months before I hear anything. When I put on list I was told I was 69th on the list. Got a phone call about 15 mins ago that it's in and I can pick it up anytime.

I just picked up this lens last Saturday and I am totally loving it! I'm used to shooting macro, so it's a different experience, being able to be so far from your subject. These are a couple of shots from my backyard and a Goldfinch from a nearby Wildlife Refuge I visited on Sunday. Any problems with the photos are entirely the fault of the nut that presses on the shutter release, not the lens or body. Reading this forum and all your pics have helped my photography a great deal, thanks. Critiques would be most appreciated.
