Deer do not walk in straight lines. How do I know this? I have been watching their tracks in the snow on my front lawn for several days now. They even do loop-d-loops. Why should anyone be surprised? They have the brain about the size of a clementine orange, if even that large. :)

Which Way Did They Go?

The rhododendron bush in front of the house is also what I call a biothermometer. When the temperature is inthe mid-20s F or higher, the leaves uncurl. As the temperature drops below that, the leaves get more tightly curled. I saw these leaves and figured it was in the mid 20s. Checked the thermometer, and yup, the temperature was 26 F. I took this photo this afternoon, after getting home from work from the bedroom window.

The photo of salt grains earlier made me think about sugar granules. Table sugar, AKA sucrose, are rather interesting. They do not have that nice cubic shape of salt crystals. I took this photo of some granulated sugar on a neon pink piece of paper. I used my D7000 with my favorite macro lens, the Micro-Nikkor AF 105 f/2.8 lens. I really do love that lens.

While being stared at by the dog to get out of "her" recliner, I snapped this photo of Buster at the foot of the recliner.

I tried to post this yesterday but it the Website seemed to be down, so here goes:

It was about 1 deg F when I walked the dog in the morning. After walking the dog, I came back out with my camera and took several frost photos. I liked this one the best.

With all the cold weather, we have had some awesome icicles hanging off the roof. I took this one in the afternoon. I opened the window and took several. I liked this one the best. The sun was shining through the icicles.

Popsicle, Anyone?

I have no idea what Creature was looking at this evening, but she was very intense.

Nice shots. The icicles really sparkle in the sun.

Don,

Thanks. It was the sparkling sun that I noticed first with the icicles. It was a beautifully sunny day, yesterday, even if my poor dog is buried up to her neck in snow when she goes bounding around the backyard when I let her out. :)

While out walking the dog this afternoon after work, I saw this doe and her fawn. They just stared at us as we were walking around. Jenny, my dog, was totally oblivious to the deer.

You know when winter is getting boring, especially when it's 39 deg F and rainy.

Yes, you guessed it. This is the top of a bottle of dish washing detergent. Very sad, I know. :)

My hyacinth bulb from last year is starting to sprout. Creature thought she'd check it out when I was trying to get a photo of it.

Hmm... What's That?
