Pat,

Thanks. I was really surprised how well the two bumblebee photo came out. I used my SB-600 speedlight, not the on-camera flash. That allowed me to have a much better depth of field and I think, overall, the exposures were better with that flash. I just get lazy sometimes and don't want to carry it around.

Today is just a small collection of fauna that I caught doing what fauna do.

The red squirrel saga continues. I came home from work and Scrat, our local red squirrel was hanging around the bird feeder. It turns out that Scrat is a she, as you will see from one of the photos. Also, she is still trying to make a nest in the barn. We heard her walking around in loft and then actually caught her peering down at us from the loft. She was too quick for me to get a photo. But here are today's squirrel photos.

It amazes me how squirrels can seem to contradict the laws of physics. She looks plastered on the side of the tree, like those witch Hallowe'en decorations.

Ah, nuthatch fledglings. I like nuthatches. They are rather fun to watch.

This next nuthatch photo is not as sharp as I would like it, but I just liked the bird's expression.

I heard some noises in the woods and walked over. I saw a doe and her two yearlings in the woods, just staring at me. The twins used to be triplets but one of them was hit by a car, hence my vulture photos from last week. This particular one kept staring at me, then wandered off.

A series of thunderstorms this afternoon and evening relegated me to finding something inside to photograph. I finished these socks this afternoon and figured they would do for today's posting. At least it's not the opportunistic feline photo. :)

After the humidity and rain we have had the past couple of days, it turned out to be a beautiful Saturday morning. I took my computer, tea and assorted other "stuff" outside, went to the picnic table we have in a nice shady spot. I have been enjoying the morning's nice breeze, relaxing with a nice cup of lapsang tea, and checking up on how to add a Linux partition to my Mac. Yeah, really geeky, but that's me. :)

Oh, and yes, I did have bug repellent on so the little nasties wouldn't eat me alive as they like to do. :)

Looking at our weather report for here, it should be relatively dry for the next couple of days, so your weather should be similar but a day or two later. I do hope it dries out a little so I can mow the lawn. Right now, our front lawn looks like a pond in some spots. :(
