Terrific shots, John and Eduard! :D My widest was only 24mm this time. And jdeg, I agree everyone swarmed in there! Some people didn't care if they stood in front of someone who was about to take a shot. And then there were a few who were eyeballing what others were taking--you could see them craning their necks trying to see the perspective from the photographers point of view. lol!

By the way, there were a couple of Nikonians there, but I believe we Nikonites outnumbered any other group!

I'll admit, I did steal one perspective, but I doubt the result was the same due to lens choice :)

Oh really? I was surprised that nearly everyone had Nikons. I gave out at least 6 cards.

Thx! Did you shoot horizontal or vertical? I did have to crop the leg of someone's tripod.
vertical - I cropped several lenses/heads out of the bottom, which is why I didn't get more of the courtyard/ground.

Ooooo - my turn!!

I have a shot with the tripod leg in it as well. Eduard, I think I must crouched in the corner of the doorway off camera left while you were shooting this - unless you're being nice and cropped me out as well. :) After the scramble to shoot ivy in the first courtyard I decided to try and avoid other cameras in certain areas, so my apologies if I got in anyone's way.

Here's my shot from in there, shooting across the ceiling at the far end of the first doorway.

Great photos, guys. You're making me insanely jealous. The walk in my area was cancelled due to rain. :(

Even my backup walk got cancelled. SIGH!

Okay, last one from the walk. This was inside the Lewis Library. Love all the colors. This was surprisingly difficult to post process. I liked the texture of the letters being the same color as the wall. The light was coming in from the right which also introduced a subtle shadow.

Looks like the first ever Fro Knows Photo and Nikonites synergy, haha (not my photo - I think group leader took it):

Lol! Okay you two...most likely it was MY tripod leg that got in your shots! ;) After all, I was under that archway with my tripod! I no sooner got set up when several other photogs stood in front of me so I waited. Sorry! It's one of the reasons why I wanted to go off by myself--the tripod is a necessity for me, but it's a pain especially in tight areas.

Where did you find this? I haven't seen photos that the leader took except the one group shot she emailed (which you conveniently missed! LOL!) I didn't see any of the walk leader's photos on the Flickr site either.

Here are a couple of my fountain shots.

And I shot this one from the bottom of a set of stairs looking upwards.

And here are a couple more photos. I think this first one was taken near that archway where so many of us converged at once or it was immediately thereafter.

And here is another shot of those zodiac sculptures. It was very difficult to get a shot with lots of the sculptures without people. For those who weren't there, these sculptures are right next to the fountain, and there were a number of people milling around--not even counting those of us on the Photo Walk.

That fountain is so hard to frame, primarily because it's so hard to get it without someone or something in the shot you don't want. I waited on the far side shooting back towards the Wilson School for a while (as I lost you guys) and it didn't matter. Going to need to stop in there on a weekday when the kids are out of session I guess.

I really like this angle, but I'm thinking maybe a crop closer to square? There's almost too much tree where I lose the fountain. Here's a perfectly square crop...

Good call on the crop. I do like how you squared it. The problem was there were 2 large trash cans to the left of the fountain. When I took the photo, I shot it with the set of stairs leading up to the fountain, but that also included those trash receptacles. When cropping them out, the photo was too narrow and too tall.

I will be going back to Princeton more frequently if time allows it--was only there a few times in the 90s. I couldn't find the one building I really wanted to photograph. That area is so beautiful, and the architecture is incredible!

And I'm amazed you know the names of so many of their buildings! :)

By the way, the fountain IS the last place where I saw you sitting--thought you might be doing HDR as you hadn't moved from that one spot!

I want to try and get into Alexander Hall one of these days. It's probably most popularly known as the place where Tim Robbins delivers his speech in "I.Q.", but I have fond memories of many concerts there back in the 80's. Again, some day when school is not in session.

It wasn't HDR but a shot at doing something with long exposures at the fountain (I had a 10 stop ND on the camera). Came out OK, but I couldn't get a decent angle on it. Probably should have gone to the other side and hoped that people moved over the course of the 20 second shot. "La vie"

As for my encyclopedic knowledge of PU, let's just say that the biggest part of knowing everything is knowing where to look. :)

So Eduard, after looking at the Flickr page for the group, why only one beer? :)

Finally got an edit I liked of my fountain photos where you can both see the water streams and not so much see where human beings used to be (though I now see two obvious pieces of visual evidence).

Tacking 'em on as I finish them, which lately means before 7AM.

This was the only angle I could get where people were no longer a problem.

Just curious, has anyone submitted their official photo yet? I was wondering if it's possible to see the other entries from the walk after you've submitted your?

I submitted mine but don't see any way to view the photos uploaded by others. Also--just so you know, once you upload your submission, you DO have the ability to change your mind and upload something different. I haven't tried the option of changing my mind, but there is a button which is supposed to allow it. And according to Chris' email, we have until 12 noon on October 14th.

When I went to our walk page, I wasn't logged in (IE9 problems so now using Chrome). Before logging in, it said something about joining a walk and being able to share photos. Once I logged in, I don't see any way to share photos via the walk site.

Ah, forgot that you can change it!! Makes sense that you can't see others then until after the deadline, in which case I hope we can see all of them.

I suspect that the "share" refers to the Flickr pages, both the Worldwide group and each local walk. Not that the main Flickr group is actually linked on the site anywhere.
