I wonder how many people the D7000 has "switched"? I bet there are a few of them. A few more duds and it is going to kill their hard won reputation. I don't care what anyone says made in Taiwan or made in China or whatever means inferior goods to me. The new Sony XR100 is getting rave reviews. The price point is very high for such a camera - $650 a pop - because it is Made in Japan!

Errrr, RX100 i think you mean. XR100 is a camcorder :p All my nikons are made in Thailand ;) I am not sure you can call this a "switch" - i would consider it a switch if he went to a Canon DSLR. This is more like a full-blown retreat!!

I say to each his own... Obviously his d7000 was not functioning properly and he decided in that time that he doesnt want or need a camera like that... As long as he is happy why do any of you care? Certainly doesn't make him a Pratt - that seemed a little uncalled for.
have fun with your new camera Antrim

I'm not really surprised by this comment to be honest, but you've just proved what I thought. :stupid:

D5100 Shooter, would you not expect me to choose a forum where I use the same camera? It's not as if I'm going to post Fuji pics in a Nikon forum, now that would be rather silly, would it not? What I don't understand is why you would post a link to my application on another forum?

And lastly, Rolls Royce's having nothing in common with D7K's; at least Rolls Royce do what they're supposed to. In any case, not that I would compare an X10 to a Yugo, but a Yugo costs less, are cheaper to insure, tax, run and buy parts for. I'd rather own a Yugo and have a good reliable little car that I can afford, than have a clunking hunk o' junk that costs an arm and a wing to keep, if you see the point I'm trying to make.

In any case, to those who wished me well, I bid you farewell; it was nice knowing you for the short time I was here; thanks for your friendship, likes and advice, and for giving me 1st place in the black & white landscape - it really boosted my confidence. To the rest of you, I hope you always get what you want in life, not what you deserve.

Good luck Hills - its your money, your choice. As long as you're happy, it matters not one iota which system you shoot with.

Something else that eludes you. Since numerous people took the time to help you out, i took the time to let them know where you landed. It was not meant with any ill will. Since you found it perplexing, i have taken out the link.

Well Pete, that question almost classifies you as one :D. It's British slang and it has a number of meanings, but the least offensive is "someone who is clueless"

In my 60 + years living on this rock, I have been called many, many things. Most of them offensive.

One thing that I have learned. When you've been shot, words don't hurt at all.

And when you die, you don't care anymore.

So I'm clueless. Big deal. At least I learned something. :)

Thanks for being honest.

I'm not quite so sure about that...no matter what FL it ought to be sharper and clearer than the examples shown us. So do you all think it is the lens itself?

18-105 is known as a decent performer right?

The 18-105 is a very decent lens. It has never let me down. The D7000 is also a fine product that produces stellar images.

I read through most of the posts on this topic and I am disappointed to see how it all unravelled. Where I live, good customer service seems to be at every LCS and if that isn't good enough, NIkon is 20 minutes away. A quick trip can tell you with no uncertainty, whether or not it is the user or the equipment.

As a consumer, though, you have to be a little more hard nosed and follow a process of elimination to ensure you do in fact have faulty equipment. Even if it means using other lenses or just having someone in a camera shop who knows what they are doing take some images etc. Rule out all the possibilities.

Disappointing all around seeing someone upset with his purchase and switching to some other brand. I hope the new gear works out.

Well if we are being honest, I had heard the term before, but I didn't actually now what it meant, so, I had to google it. Lol.

I find it disappointing also Wyzard, we now have a former Nikonite who will surely not return even if he bought a Nikon again some day. Not the way it should be, that is for sure.

It means pretty much the same as ' dickhead ' which is more international and also used here in the uk in great abundance

If my high dollar rig wouldn't focus a kit lens I'd be MR. dickhead plus a few other obscene words wouldn't any of you be the same?

That is what I like about MF...I pretty much stay pissed off at my photography as only about half of my pictures are in focus...keeps things exciting! I love my Nikons though... :)

I wish I would have realized he was going into the shop this morning. If I had the foresight I would have tried to talk him into jumping on board the D300 or D5100 or even trying another D7000.

Why not work this out, AntrimHills could be our resident Fuji expert :). I've seen other non- Nikon images here, at least he didn't cross over to the C word!

Why are you so misunderstood?

Resident Fuji Expert requires a X Pro 1 or whatever the heck it is and a Nikon lens adapter sir. The XP1 is really the Fuji that would have gave him the best shot at Landscape stuff...especially with all the new system lenses and the legacy lens compatibility with adapters (although I don't think this concept is really a good idea)...he was ill served by being sold the X10 it is a fixed lens vacationers rig deluxe...the X100 would have been better but it is also fixed lens...that is the camera my kid uses...
