Nikon D7100 DSLR Announcement

Hold on their Skippy. . . this message from Nikon Europe might make me have to reconsider.

We won't know for sure, could the response be a fake? Would be interesting to see if one of us would get a similar response. It seems a bit more "in-depth" than I would expect.

Now, I'm wondering how many D7000 owners will ditch their "old body" and buy a D7100.

You can have mine, but I charge a fee to allow you to tow it away. :)

My D7000 is sticking around. No matter if I go D7100 or D800 it'll become my car camera until my wife decides she'd rather take photos of birds instead of stare at them through binoculars. Then I can give her my 150-500mm and get some serious glass. :)

To all please note: The existence of the 7100 does not make the 7000 any less of a camera today than it was yesterday

Interesting that they left enough room between the D7100 and D600 price points to stick in another model.

There might be, but it won't be 24 megapixels. If they come out with an improved D300-400, I think it would be 16 megapixels. this would give it more frames per second like the D4.

Time will tell.

I agree, perhaps even the new sony 20 mp sensor. Too bad they leave so much room for future speculation, glad I'm not waiting to decide and jumped on the D600. I couldn't imagine waiting for the next Dx, lol, with my luck I would wait a year and it would be the D3300 :)

Re: Nikon D7100 is now officially announced!

Looking over the specs, the only things I miss is the OLED Viewfinder Info and lack of AA filter. However, with my recent (one week) purchase of a D7000, I feel I got a heck of a deal... $300 cheaper plus 16GB memory card and Lowepro case included. Take the cost difference and put it toward some glass.

I actually got my D7000 for 600 less with the lens kit. While it stings to see this come out only a few months after I got my d7000, it helps that it's a bit pricier and not THAT much beefier...

The D7100 in all aspects seems like it will be a big "hit" I am happy for DX shooters getting such a great replacement or addition to their kit. Myself the FX bug hit me hard, there is no looking back for me. I have far too much invested in FX at this point. It is going to be very interesting to see the performance of the D7100's sensor without the AA filter. I hope Nikon hits a "home run" with this body and shuts up all those so called "experts" who do nothing but complain about gear that in all likely hood can't afford or will never own.

Sorry, I have to disagree, it leaves the old 7000 behind in quite a few ways. The AF is far superior, the resolution is better, the high ISO results will be better, the fps is better and possibly the construction is better. Everything that matters is better and by a fair margin. Don't get me wrong. The 7000 is a cracking camera and mine won't be going anywhere. But let's be fair, IMO the 7100 is quite a step up. :)

Is $1199 expected to be "MSRP" or the street price? I recently bought a D3200, and almost purchased a D7000. Glad I didn't, this would have been a kick in the nuts. Curious to see what "Body Only" deals get down to after it being out 6 months or so...

Agreed. I like the stereo mic which I think should be standard for video purposes. Lack of AA filter will give you superior acuity. The D7100 hit the homerun on this IMO.

It's definitely better. But is it $600 better?
