I believe spec wise the D500 is compared to uninteresting specs of the 7d MkII.
So the one that cought my attention before was the Samsung NX1 (BSI did not deliver on the ISO tests, beating the D7200 with only 30 points on DXO Mark).
Camera Format APS-C (1.5x Crop Factor)
Max Resolution 28 MP: 6480 x 4320 BSI => fail for the D500
Bit Depth 14-bit
Dust Reduction System Yes
Memory Card Type SD
Image Stabilization Optical
Autofocus Points Phase Detection: 205 => fail for the D500
Contrast Detection: 209
Viewfinder Coverage 100%
Viewfinder Magnification Approx. 1.04x => fail for the D500
Diopter Adjustment - 4 to +2 m => fail for the D500
Display Screen 3" Rear Touchscreen Tilting AMOLED (1,036,000) => D500 wins
ISO Sensitivity Auto, 100-25600 (Extended Mode: 100-51200) => D500 wins
Shutter 30 - 1/8000 seconds in Manual Mode
Max Sync Speed Electronic Shutter: 1 / 250 seconds
Continuous Shooting Up to 15 fps => fail for the D500
Weight 19.4 oz / 550 g => fail for the D500
However I believe we will see a similar effect then with the 7d MkII and the NX1, less specs but more performance.
Wait and see though if the D500 specs deliver.
