Nikon D500 Announced

I'm mainly interested in the low light aspect of this frame, i don't care for the 4K ability, Snapbridge, or huge buffer (i've never max'd out my D7200). Slightly surprised about the smaller sensor, but i understand the logic. Great that it has a dedicated ISO button on the top. Anyone wanna buy my D7200?

Not really, but if I read the gist of your question correctly then, yes, it's that sort of thing. The specs are a bit less and a little different than the D5, the body is likely a little different from the D750, but this is the meant to be everything you'd ever want in a DX body. If you shoot DX, I can't imagine what you'd ask for that you don't get here (except a pop-up flash). Pretty amazing camera.

"Small sensor" is a must for sports and wildlife photographers. It gives you 50% more reach, and 15% on top in 1.3X mode. Nikon has exploded at the full frame stuff leaving Canon to run rampant in cropped sensor market. There were screams from Nikon folks even before the 7D Mark II was released for an upgrade to the D300s, and when there was no response to Canon after that it the idea become almost accepted fact that Nikon wouldn't answer the call. It took them way too long to respond, but at least they did so in a way that almost justifies the wait.

I can't tell if it supports HSS. No mention of auto FP. If not, that'll be disappointing but it's preordered anyway. The rest of the features sound great! Guess I'll finally be forced to get an XQD card.

If I understand what you mean by "auto FP", yes.

Somehow missed that! Thanks. I read that as top shutter speed is 1/8000 which is great by itself.

I'm drooling over the buffer spec alone. My biggest question that doesn't seem to be addressed anywhere concerns the LCD: does it have the same exposed ribbon cable like the D750, along with a page in the manual stating that no moisture whatsoever should come into contact with it? I would assume it must be different on the D500 since Nikon terms this as a pro body.

The ribbon is still exposed. At least from what I see on a video preview on Matt Grangers YouTube channel.

I am in the same boat. I just bought my D7200 and now this comes out, but the price point would have prevented me from getting the D500. I am really happy with the D7200 and about the time I am ready they will have all the bugs worked out. :)

I know ... just in the few months since I had a D750 in my hands for a day to try and justify the D7100 replacement, the resale value of the D7100 is no where near what it was.

Pre-ordered mine today. D7200 will become the second body that I use for static shots at airshows and such. The D500 will have the big zoom, probably a 200-500mm for the action shots. Can't wait for them to start shipping.

I've been completely happy with my D7000 and never felt left out when the 7100 and 7200 came out. However the D500 looks really nice. Will be very interesting to see some real world results for images and the fps rate. Probably will be a D510, etc. out before I could consider a new body (my daughter starts college next year).
