Fewer pixels on the same surface area translates to slightly larger individual pixels which, without getting into a lot of technicalities, is a good thing at these sorts of resolutions. Now, if you ask the next logical question, "Why are these bigger pixels better?" be prepared for an onslaught of tech-talk.

So am I right in suspecting this is a d750 bodied, d5 specced, dx sensored offering? That is a whole lot of win and exactly what I was hoping Nikon would release. I don't wish to switch to FX as I have quite a DX lens collection but the d7xxx series lacks the articulated screen and wireless connectivity that I would like. D5300 was the only option with these until now. Big low light fan

If your asking is this the next best thing to FX then probably yes,if you want to stay DX it will be the one to get.

No U1 & U2 either, I have come to really appreciate having them on my D7100.

Right. You don't realize how important that is unless you use it and get used to it. For me it's almost a deal breaker.

If you got into photography as some sort of long-term investment strategy you may want to stop and reconsider.

I can't add much to this discussion except, I have a long way to go to learn to utilize all of the capabilities of what I have now. I don't need to spend that kind of money on new frustrations. Ha

Ime in the same situation but i never use my camera to its full ability and i never will,the parts of it i do use to the full like ISO and focusing the D500 improves on them so when the price drops a bit i may look at one.
