Mike,

That is the best link for images i have seen so far regarding the capabilities of this lens. Nice and sharp.

All I have seen prior are images that were soft.

How would you say this image (taken with my gear)below compares to the ones associated with your link taken with the Tamron? On par, better or worse.

Click on image to enlarge to get a good idea of resolution on my gear.

Just curious, I am really thinking of picking this lens up when it becomes available.

Comments appreciated.

seeing the results from the field reviews online make me 95% certain to get this lens. apparently the nikon version is being released in japan on the 21st of feb.i will wait to see the results on the nikon system before purchase as some canon users are reporting focus tracking issues. the f8 focus abilities of newer nikon bodies should give less problems than the f5.6 of canons af.the 150-600vc seems to be a capable lens in good conditions in the right hands. just a touch better than the sigma 50-500 iq-wise with 100mm more reach. cant wait

Talk on another forum of a focusing problem on canon cameras, with the possibility of a recall,it was suggested that tamron where going to iron out the bugs with canon before letting the important customers get them :D

At least Canon users are good for something! ;)

On the Canon version, DXO gives the Tamron virtually the same rating as the Sigma 150-500mm.

Thats a bit disappointing, I would have expected it to do a bit better than that.
Going by that comparison the extra few hundred dollars gets you a slight improvement and an extra 100mm.

I see the Bigron was tested on a 5DmkII, and the Sigma was tested on the 5DmkIII, not sure what the difference is between those bodies.
I read somewhere that the Bigron was having trouble focusing on some Canon bodies, I think the 5DmkIII was one of the cameras that was having trouble with it.

I should have posted them with the same bodies. I did just go back and tried them both with the same model (II and the III). The difference between the two never changed (1 point separating the two) but the scores did change they both moved up. I was hoping for a little better as well. But in reality having a little more reach with the same quality made Sigma drop its price. I think 1069 is a fair price for what they offer (sans any autofocus issues)

I might consider the latest 80-400 Nikon. At twice the price (even with $400 off) selling plasma won't cut it. I'll have to sell an organ.

I live in Canada and was wondering if anyone has heard a more pinpoint release date for the 150-600mm will be for Nikon users? I have heard mid March tossed around. Anyone offer any more info?? Thanks
