Feb 26th's piano person of the day. Nice person that was really glad I came out to replace my assistant that fell ill. The piano is a very nice cabinet but the guts are long time passed a complete overhaul that would cost more than the cost of a new piano. So this was probably the last tuning I'll do on that piano since the pins wouldn't even stay put until I got out of the house...

It is really a nice cabinet. Rally a shame when something like that is past its prime.

And for the first time ladies and gentlemen, it's my turn to be caught on digital media by a customer of mine while I was working on her grand piano action.

?how long does a tuning last? do you tune on a schedule or when called?

A tuning doesn't last very long but mileage does vary. A lot depends on the climate (humidity+temperature) changes and the final user. For recording sessions, it is usual for the tuner to be on the set during the recording session. For a normal household, between 2 and 4 tunings a year are usually recommended. I tune when called since I'm trying to lower my work load and gradually fade out of business.

March 1st and spring is coming but not as fast as I'd like. Since I got my new focusing screen for the D600, I've started enjoying the 105 Ais 2.5 manual focus again. I really love this lens that cost a fraction of newer AF-S. It is sharp but has a certain feel to the way it captures light. I don't know how to explain it but I just love using it.

I did a few abstract shots today as I was looking to build up a folder of textures that I will later use with other shots to create the analog look of old pictures. But what I got was kind of interesting, abstract, but nice. Most are close-ups of the salt and dirt on my car and one in the window.

I was at the Vulcan Statue in Birmingham, Al a long time ago and they had all the steps that were natural stone. I shot every stone there exactly the same way. Came home and cropped them all the same. Then took all of them and tiled them together to make backgrounds for websites. I have used them for several things over the years. It is always good to have some textures on hand for use,

March 4th, Saw a few horses wandering in the snow and had to stop and try some images. The light was just about well, backlit.

Thanks Scott, I do what I can with the little time the half retirement leaves me with. :)

Haha I could imagine, I am hoping to do a lot more this break and I will also be uploading some of the best wedding photos to my website seeing as my friends have said I can and they have had a copy for a week now (will be 2 weeks by the time I get home) I will pick the best 20 out of the 400+.

March 6th. Go Away and leave me alone seems to say our cat this morning.

Pretty well resumes how I feel with the winter that just won't go away. It was still -22 C this morning when I got up...
