Here is the shot I've submitted for my first entry in the February Assignment. It gives more detail than the other one and make me appreciate the work that went into this mural:

Agree with Lawrence, really like that one Marcel. Is it a photograph or a painting, no a photograph of a painting and I think it really works.

Feb 8th. Early morning shot of our cat Chouchoune. I just wanted to use my 105 2.5 AIs for this shot. It sure is a sharp portrait lens. But I did replace my D700's focusing screen to help with the manual focus. I could not have gotten that precise without the screen replacement.

Feb 9th. We went snowshoeing with friends who had a very nice chocolate Lab. Couldn't resist:

That's nice Marcel. Although it's great as-is, I suspect if you removed the trails in the snow it would make for a more compelling image.

I think you're right because they don't lead the eyes in but just keep them running parallel to the side of the image.

OMG, I thought that was some amazing post processing. Only when read the post did I realise it was a mural. Amazing work from the artist and yourself to capture it so well.

Feb 11th, piano person of the day. The piano is a Kawai RX-3 for those of you who might be interested.

D700, 35mm f2 AIs, 1/50 f4 iso 640.

another nice piano shot.

How is the sound of this piano?

It's a very nice sounding piano. A little mellower than the equivalent Yamaha C-3. It has a very nice sustain and just the right amount or crisp on attack depending on the power you give it. But it sings.

Feb 12th, piano person of the day. With a twist because I already had this person with his piano. But, since he's mainly a guitar player, I thought I'd do a different portrait. Plus, the piano is in a large window that put him back to the light. So I played with Nik Analog filter to get this which I like very much.

Feb 14th, I had to get into work even with the storm that might and probably will cancel tonight's concert. So, as I'm tuning, I noticed the ice in the window and thought it might be a good shot.
