I got the best score at our local photo club Tuesday night. The theme was "The Blue Hour".

This image was selected by 2 out of 3 judges:

i went to a friend's performance last night. A poet with his son, reading and music. It was extremely low light as the exifs will show. Df with 180 2.8 using manual focus and hand held. I had quite a few miss (both focus and motion blurred), but I was able to recover a few. I'm still amazed at the Df's sensor IQ at high ISO.

This is the image I used and cheated with the Oil Paint filter. I also removed the microphone that was distracting.

These are terrific, Marcel! I've had to shoot at ISO 8000 with my D750...something I wouldn't be able to do nearly as well with my D7100. Your images came out nice. When I shoot with my D750 during our Worship service, there are times when it's not so easy for the AF to lock on especially when it's not overly bright. I'm always impressed with what I see from the DF body.

Love your choice of lens, too. I need to make use of my 180mm f/2.8 more often! The lens has such creamy bokeh.

This is why I often prefer to use manual focus in these instances. Since I'm not moving and the person is not moving much either, I can usually get something good. But a few misses as well. But you are right about this lens, it's one of the great Nikkors that is often forgotten home. But it's way lighter than the 70-200 2,8 and as sharp if not more.
Thanks for your comments.

Today was TaiChi and errands. I just had time for a quick macro when I saw the raisins that Line had washed.

Crikey...around here we call those things grapes. Our raisins are dried grapes with tons of wrinkles. :beguiled: Isn't it funny how words differ depending upon where you're from!

Ah great, I had forgotten. I guess someone might have corrected me before. But in French, it's the same word since it's the same. Raisin is grape and raisin is raisin. :)
Thanks for the correction. It means that I'm not going to die tonight since I learned something today.

Marcel, please understand I wasn't trying to correct you! There are a variety of words from across the pond that are different over here in the USA. It's interesting that in French, it's the same word for both. I had no idea!

Don't worry Cindy, I wasn't thinking that you were correcting me, but it made me realize that English is not French. That's all. I never mind learning, specially something that I think I knew and forgot. :)
Sometimes on FB I write in French and sometimes in English, so I guess sometimes I get confused and forget things.

Sorry for the missing Exif. I forgot to change my LR export settings back to normal. Df with sigma 105 macro.
