Glad you like this thread Lawrence. Now let's see some from your neck of the woods!

Your wish is my command!

Within 500 yards of the house I found 4 different ones in the same street and the neighbours learned they have a nutcase living at #39 ;)

This is the third attempt at posting these so I won't mess with the sizes.

My husband thinks I'm crazy when I take a shot of a manhole cover also!! I just can't believe how many different ones there are.

Not a great shot - stuck between a column and a bench with the 300mm.

Doesn't look to ductile to me.

Having problems loading photos again today. Hopefully the whole thing will load eventually.

This are not "manhole covers", but "coal hole covers". These are in front of a double house on Pine Street in Portland Maine. Each cover when removed would reveal a coal chute that emptied into a coal bin the the cellars of the homes, so the coal delivery man would not have to carry the coal through the house. There are quite a few of them throughout the city, mostly of the same design.

You got the "plus" in Manhole Covers Plus John. Any chance of getting a closer view of one of them?

And, we better never! It was in the 50s when I got up this morning. I'm ready to head back! 13 more days!

It was really hot in PA and then the front moved through. It was in the mid 60's in the morning and warmed up during the day.
