It was a freezing day here with howling gales and sleet rain.
So as a reward for being miserable and confined to barracks the flatmate and I decided to treat ourselves to a roast Leg of Lamb for dinner.
So the first image is the Leg of Lamb from Lens of Lawrence - please laugh out loud at my humour.

Note how she had already nipped a piece off the end. She thought I hadn't noticed!!!

The meal was so good I took myself off to buy a bottle of red wine. Had my camera with me and snapped the car park lighting with the wicked night sky in the background.

An interesting day down at the farmer's market. Still have a few to process but for now here is a big bad looking dude (probably a really cuddly guy … hey ladies) and a pirate.
The pirate purposely roughly processed to give that olde worlde look. He was a nice guy. He told me it took longer to put the gold on his face than take it off.

Thanks @Vixen

Here are there more and then I think I am done for the day.

First this young maiden was being pursued by these bachelors, and boy were they persistent! Eventually she flew off for some peace and quiet.

And then a Tui - arguably NZ's favourite bird that besides being rather striking has a beautiful voice too.

Not quite up to Tui standard these two put on a good show ...

Lawrence, you have the eye of a poet.

Your work is constantly improving before our eyes. I am very impressed with your eye and your dedication to improving your skills. Photography suits you, and don't forget that. Keep it up my friend.

Another horrible weather day here and I wish I could sneak this in so none of you see it.
My flat mate said "You going out in this weather!"
It wasn't a question it was a statement which I took to mean she thought I was nuts - turns out she was right … they always are.

Anyway about 20 yards down the road I saw this tree and took it as a sign to head home. I figure my time could be better spent learning something practical about photography.

Trying to portray the gusting wind in this photo with a 1/5th second shutter speed.

Well ordinarily I would be embarrassed with today's photo but …
I drove around for an hour trying to find something really good> I'm sure it is out there but I didn't see it.
In the end I spotted three horses beautifully backlit and thought that would be the shot. One dark brown horse and two beautiful pale "yellow" ones.
Horses being horses they came running towards me as if I was a carrot bearer and not a photographer. The moment was totally gone and so was my sense of humour :)

So that's it folks - 1 rather boring but friendly "yellow" horse.

Ah...being far to critical of yourself Lawrence. It's a great photo. The sun is still kissing that horse and it looks lovely :D

Went to a new photographic group meet tonight - novice division because I had no idea where I fit in.
It was very basic stuff and I had to even correct the lecturer at one point! Certainly never learnt anything new except how many people have Canons!!!!

Took some photos with backlighting etc as per class lesson but my most interesting one was of this lass attempting some macro photography.

Glad I'm not the only one that screws their face up :D Will you go back? Or will you go to the intermediate group if they have one? or go for broke now you are a pro? :D

LOL Have printed and hung the "Now you are a pro" bit. :D

They have the novice group and an "advanced" group - so I will try that and see if there is a fit. Had there been an intermediate that would have been the one I would have selected.
