I am not real thrilled with the shots I took today and could not decide which of the 2 better ones to post but here goes

The first one, the focus was missed. you focussed on the rocks in the foreground therefore the background whcih is the point of interest looks a bit soft...unless that is of course what you were going for.

The second looks sharp, but way too dark. the sepia-ish tone you have going doesn't work...a regular black and white with a bit more contrast would have looked better IMO. Also, I like the position of the boat in the frame but would like to have seen it a bit lower so the roof tops and sail mast weren't cut off. I see lots of motion blur in the trees as well. long exposures and wind generally doesn't work in this instance...however, you could have achieved the same picture at faster shutter speeds with a higher ISO

Thanks Joe, the first was actually focused on the rocks with intent to have a soft transition but it did not go as planned. Like I said these were not very good IMO but they were the best of the lot
I actually could not agree more with you on the second. I bracketed this with the intent to do something totally different but I did not like that either. the mast is at the 3rds mark and i meant to have the boat there to but... Yeah IDK what happened there lol.
I actually like the sepia, this was kind of a 2 step low contrast to sepia and then I used a little dodge and burn for shadows and highlights.

This morning I took a little drive and found 2 spots that I really liked and 1 that I plan to revisit on a less cloudy morning. I did not really have to much of a chance to sit and be idle because the rain chased me away.

Now this one, with a little more tweaking could be a GREAT pic. I love the rays but feel they could pop a bit more...and I love how the dock leads right out to the bright spot...I only would have lowered everything in the frame just a hint and the horizon is a bit close to the center. It looks like you placed it here to keep the sun from being directly in the photo...I'd be interested in playing with the RAW file of this...

This was a multi shot blend and your right the sun was getting close to being into the lens as is. I did do a little dodge and burn here and there including in the rays. I would actually like to be there right now as the sun sets behind me and the islands and puffy clouds are lit up. Be a great evening shot for sure.

This is right after the above lol

So this last weekend was a real whopper when it comes to weather here in florida. 6.5 inches of rain in 2 days. So a while back I bought the Op Tech cheap rain covers and while I was bored I figured I would try it out. It was a little odd putting on but once the eye piece is on it is not bad. I stepped out on the porch for a few quick images, just to see if it worked. i stayed out until I was drenched figuring that was good enough for a test and then wiped it down and carefully removed the cover to see what was inside. With the exception of the front of the lens it was all dry. And I breathed a sigh of relief.

So yesterday I went with my wife and daughter to the wetlands area near us. It was a nice little trip until it started to get hot. Here are a couple of images from the trip.

I like the butterfly shot. I don't know why, maybe it is the color of the butterfly against the background and the focus on the butterfly. BTW being with the family is just great. Two of my daughters are moving back to Idaho after spending some time in Vegas.

So I went to the beach with my wife and daughter the other day. My daughter was all about feeding the birds and I quickly realized I had a grand op if I could capitalize on it.
