The sugar is made from beets. The 'aroma' is considered slightly offensive to some, but I like it too. Sebewaing has a huge operation that begins in October and runs 24/7 until February or March.
I know that most folks find it offensive, funny that doesn't change! I will try to get some pics of our abandoned factory today. they still store sugar in the silos. I was only in there once, but was like being in heaven. Everything was covered in sugar dust (white).

Wow! Marcel! You took a photo of my dream house!!! (Wait a minute! How the hell the owner climbed up to the chimney to hang the lights? Is he a family version Spiderman?)

Our family had our Christmas get together today.

After the eating-too-much, taking turns spoiling our cat, Binky, and dog, Roo, and other family visiting pleasures, we all sort of settled down to TV, small groups catching up on whatever, etc. You know, the moving-slow-stage time at these gatherings. (21 of us in a small circa 1912, 5 room home, so space was at a premium)

I couldn't help taking this picture of my Son-in-law and three Grandsons participating in today's family sharing-together-time. Good title might be, "The Electronic Age". My, how things have changed the last 50 years....

I did notice that desert later brought them out of their paralysis! LOL :)

This will be my second entry.

Nice shot and processing Carroll, they were probably texting each other :)

Thanks, Rick. I really like Photomatix and tonemapping, but need to learn more.

(I should have looked at the phones, they probably were! LOL)

Excellent subject and processing. Looks like a Norman Rockwell rendition.

Thank you Ted. It is fun to learn from your's and other's work here. Have a Happy New Year!

That's a very kind compliment, but I'm just a hacker having fun. I just happen to post a lot of photos.

I've taken over 6000 pictures with my D700 since October. If there are 10 really good ones, I'd be satisfied.

I think you'll learn far more from others on this site.

Happy New Year to you.

:encouragement:

Well, I will be looking forward to getting my "Hacker" badge, when I get better! ( I have the fun part down...) I like looking at everyone's work, and all the different ways that photographs are composed, processed, etc. It really helps, and I appreciate being able to see what can be done. So, not to overdo it, you are good, IMHO. Thanks for posting!

Nothing terribly exciting. Taken with a Samsung Galaxy S3 on 12/15. Dress rehearsal for the play the following evening.

However, pretty proud of the set design/construction I did.

Here's my third entry. Not very festive, but very real, almost too real to be true:
