Well said.Shelter pups make the best pets. People who adopt shelter pups make the best owners.
My four cats are all rescue critters. The newest one, actually adopted us and decided we were going to be his "people." Someone dumped him off "in the country" when he was about 6 months old. He was outside for quite a while. He came inside the house in January, and has had no desire to leave since, or even go near the door.
My Sweet Girl, "Meggie"
Rescued her 5 years ago from idiots who had her tied up for the first 6 months of her life and were going to poison her because she was "worthless". She's bright, devoted and I consider myself lucky to have her in my life. If you know anything about "clicker training", when she sees me holding the clicker, she offers ALL the behaviors in the first 2 seconds . . . before I ask or click.

No photos, but I flew my ninth Pilots N Paws flight yesterday - 17 "saves" so far. Oh, and Scooter, the Rat Terrier, bit me.
That's gratitude for you.
Ha - that's rich! I expected the link for "party favors" to lead me to a source for rubber dog s--- from China.... party favors ...
