Pat in NH

Pat, this is the biggest project that I have done and yes I was very proud of this job. I must say that I am one happy camper!!!! By the way every one of those prints are signed and the book has my contact information in it so I am hoping it may create some more projects down the road.

I thought I would show you the original picture that my previous post was cropped and blown up from. This shot looks like something that you would delete right away but with the bigger D600 file, good glass and a couple clicks in post processing you can still have something worth looking at. Now take a look again at my previous post for the final picture. Sometimes you have to work with an image that just didn't originally come out that well and see what you can salvage out of it. This other picture is a very small portion of this original picture and has been enlarged many times to get the end result.

I picked my mom up from the nursing home and took her for a ride so she could see some outdoors. This bird about the size of a turkey was walking near the road so I took a shot of it from the car. I'm not sure what it is but it was pretty big. I'm thinking it my be a turkey vulture?

It's a hen turkey. We have lots of turkeys (avian form) around here. We've had flocks of up to 40 birds here in the late summer and fall. They are really cool birds. Not always the brightest, but neat, just the same.

Thanks Barbra for the ID on the bird. I like taking pictures but I am horrible at figuring out the ID of whatever I captured an image of. I usually have no problem determining that it is a bird but anything past that I am fairly useless.

I'm not far behind you. I can recognize the basic birds: crows, robins, sparrows, turkeys & blue jays. Most everything else I have to research or ask one of my birding buddies.

I have been trying to get a picture of this gator for about three years and it has always been in the water with just his head showing. I spotted him today on the grass and ran down to get a shot and I had time enough for one shot and then he jumped into the water.

We have a new fishing pier that you can drive out on and this Blue Heron was sitting on the railing. In the background is the bridge that connects Ocean Springs, Ms. to Biloxi, ms.

So, was this taken from your car? Nice shot!

Actually I think it was. I put the passenger's side window down and shot it from the drivers side. Every time I would start to get out of the car he would fly off and go farther down the railing so I eased up on him and shot it out the window.
