anyone know what a Dude is ?
DUDE! Norton IS a cussword!
Some folks swear by Norton's, I swear at them!
What do you think, Jen, would you rather be a "dudette" or a "bubbette"?may be addressed as "Dude" or "Bubba" as a way of avoiding the revelation of names or familial ties.
A word that Americans use to address each other. Particularly stoners, surfers and skaters.
"Americans" includes the Canadians. Don't want to leave you guys out in the cold.

btw, the first featured photo of the week will be the winner of the photo challenge.![]()
Being on the home page is considered an "honor" and it's also posted on FB and twitter whereas the regular threads are not.Sorry if I'm being obtuse but I don't understand the point of having a featured photo of the week that has already been "featured" as a weekly contest winner? I came back to this thread after seeing the POTW also being a contest winner to see if I missed something.
I think the way jdeg has set this up is a good way to work into POTW or POTD and disagree that weekly contest winners should be excluded . . . they don't get any other prize except to be "deliberately featured" on the home page. This is still a very young site (less than 2 years) and is much more of a community than most of the other forums I've been to.To that end I would humbly suggest that weekly contest winners are exempted from POTW consideration.
My personal opinion is that the banter is part of the charm of this group. If I want serious, I'll read a book. I like the interaction and the hijackings and all the humorous remarks that are tossed in amidst the serious stuff. It works for my brain to "bounce around" . . . I don't have trouble "wading through the laugh-ins", and I certainly don't want any members feeling that they should "stifle " themselves where humor is concerned.Perhaps the clearly hilarious - but completely off topic - banter be spliced out and set up in a separate thread/different sub-forum. Tough to follow this topic with several pages of "Laugh-In" to wade through.

To the thread and not necessarily to the post that contains the specific photo. Most threads have several pictures.Anyway, anyone can draw attention to any thread on FB or Twitter by linking back to it.
It is now because jdeg set it up to be the POTW and is titled as such. The "weekly challenge" that is on the home page is the current challenge and contains no photos. But isn't the weekly photo contest of the week winner featured on the home page already?
I see no redundancy. There is only one POTW (2 this week because of logistical reasons) and that title goes to the winner of the "weekly challenge". There is no other contest.I don't see how this isn't redundant in every way other than the most hair-splitting way (i.e. the amount and location of the announcement)
If it's difficult to follow, I suggest you simply scroll past them. However when the banter posts exceed the "on-topic" posts, it gets tough to follow the thread. I'm not saying that with any bias or vitriol - just stating a fact.
You've presented a recommendation that would suit you and yet affect other people without asking those "other people" if it suited them. or if they even had an opinion about it.You read far too much into my comment Helene. I'm not trying to stifle anyone.
^ what she said. Previously the weekly challenge winners were not featured at all, and it was difficult to tell who won the challenge.
Perhaps in the future we can do a photo of the day, but it will require some custom modifications to the gallery software.
