The only filter I have: Hoya Pro ND100. It was just at the limit, I could get a slightly overexposed image at 1/8000 s, f/22.

Didnt bother with pictures but it spoilt my morning bird photography,3 or 4 stops lost light and the light turned yellow pleased you guys got what you wanted though.

At least you had yellow. All I got was light gray to slightly darker gray.

As with most places a thin layer of cloud covered the sun at the high point of the eclipse. Here's a couple of mine. Nikon D610 with Nikkor70-300mmvr using a Lee filters big stopper.

@paul04 @wornish You can buy very cheap welding glass off ebay Welding Lens Lense Glass Helmet Filter all shades or clear 41/4 x 31/4 | eBay. £1 with free postage. But most welding glass will give you a horrible green tint.

Photo as shot showing the green colour cast. Fixable in post, but even with the glass held onto the end of the lens with strong elastic bands there is still light leak present. Next time the sun is out I'll give it try with two stacked ND's and hopefully will not suffer from flare issues from stacking filters. The dots are light leak as well and not the sun.

Great photo. That on the upper right corner looks like reflection from your front element bouncing off the inward side of the glass. Is light leak the term for that? Just askin

Light leak is most often when light through you viewfinder effects exposure,normally i think its long exposures

A real school boy error by myself today, I took the D3200 to work along with the 70-300mm lens and 2 filters,

About 8.35am I set up the camera for a few test shots, after a couple of shots the camera would not take another one, could not work out why, until I seen the battery icon flashing in the camera.

Got everything right, but did not check the battery last night.

So took the battery out, then 30 minutes later put it back in just to get a couple of shots, but did not get the setting correct.

oh well we learn by our mistakes.
