Eclipse for some of us

Well, I was late and the sky was cloudy and my camera was not warmed up and next doors cat ate my.... well, here is my eclipse photo. :rolleyes: I even wore my special protective goggles and sun hat.

I can't believe how lucky we were in the Midlands as we had completely clear skies apart from the final transition which is why I've only got the 5 photos and not a 6th with it almost ending. They were taken with a D7100 and AF-S 80-400mm with an ND8 and Circ Pol filters.

I don't want to start an argument here, but although filtering the sun because of damage to your eyes is a good thing, SLR sensors are not going to be damaged by taking photos of the sun. Mirrorless and Point & Shoots can be, but as long as you are not shooting with Live View or Mirror Up mode on an SLR, the sensor isn't getting the rays. The shutter speed is so quick when shooting the sun that it doesn't have enough time to cause any damage.

Still good to be protecting your eyes though.
