Morning Shots

The puja is over, and people will see Durga off. Married women will do a small puja, and put Sindur (Red powder put by Hindu women on their hair parting to show their married status). They will also put it on other women - mostly friends. The husband's job is to ferry them to the Pandal and wait patiently for them to finish.

The images are from small Pujas, hence there are not many persons around. The next post will be for Shiv MAndir, where at least 500 are waiting for their turn.

Morning Shots at Shiv Mandir.

This is one of the largest Pujas in Delhi, and tens of thousands attend it. Where a couple hundred women will be coming in most of the Pujas, here it will be in thousands.

Laxmi Puja. The festive season continues. After Durga Puja, comes Laxmi Puja on the first full moon following Durga Puja. This puja is normally held at home. In Bengali version, Alpona - designs depicting Laxmi's feet made with rice flour paste, is made at each door way in the house. Here are few Alpona made by my wife

Diwali the festival of lights.
During Diwali there is Kali Puja. Most of East and North India celebrates Kali Puja around midnight, and a goat is sacrificed.

All over India people light up their homes after carrying out a thorough cleaning. This is the time when cooking vessels were bought. Of course now a days we are buying every thing through out the year.

2. Lights - traditional. Traditionally earthen lamps with oil were used. Today, wax filled earthern lamps rule the day, as they are less messy and easy to implement.

4a. Fireworks. Tried to take a few burst shots. After about 10 shots the buffer fills up, and the rate drops from around 5fps to 2fps. This is the longest burst of 17 frames
