Day 120 (30/04/2013)I went for a stroll before work this morning. Came across a building foyer, filled with green lights. After working with the image, I felt it worked better in black & white. Interested in hearing what others prefer:

My vote would be for the color version. I like the way the green and black contrast each other whereas in the B&W they seem to blend together.

Day 121 (1/5/2013)

A local shopping centre recently installed a car park monitoring system. It keeps a tally of free spaces, and has a red or green light above each space to indicate occupied or vacant.

I came through here on the weekend when it was full and I just loved the red glow which filled the place. Unfortunately, today it was virtually empty and none of the images I took came out as I had hoped.

I struggled with this one, almost to the point of using a filler from the previous day. However, I resisted the urge so we have a sub-par image for today.

Day 122 (2/5/2013)

I went for a walk during my lunch break today. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon, with street performers out in force. One band caught my eye (and my ears). They are called 'our symphonic life' and they had a huge crowd around them.

I'd never heard of them but it looks like they are on a global tour to perform on the streets. As their website labels them "it's two classically trained composers from the hills of Vienna, Austria and a classically trained idiot from the English Yorkshire Dales, having so much fun!"

I think the image is better than you give it credit for!! Under the conditions, it is likely the best that you could make. That is part of the premise of the daily, work to improve by shooting every day! Part of that learning is figuring out why an image did not work..

Not an easy shot, good job!

Thanks Pat. Sometimes I forget the idea is to take 365 photos, not 365 masterpieces! Learning everyday :)

I try to put up a decent image... and some days I do, others not so much... I try and look at it that we can put any old POS if we choose as long as it is everyday... BUT I choose not to.. I want to learn something from each day of shots even if I do not create a masterpiece ... The quality of the shot wants to always be the best I can do under the conditions handed to me... :)

Yesterday, due to work, almost no time... shot some in the plant low light stuff before work started.. I learned a bit more from each shot..

Today, same issue as yesterday... I had seen an early morning image back along, so today on the way in, lighting was ok for it so I stopped and took it. Took a few more downtown with the glow of early morning sun.. Are they any good, dont know??!! But I will learn something and they will be the best I could do with my conditions and experience. Next time, they should be better (if I learned anything!)

Sorry for rambling... better get back to work her!

Is it a disease when the first thing you notice in a musician photo is the precise make and model of the guitar/bass they're playing? LOL

Isn't is rather obvious if a spot is occupied, that is unless the car has a cloaking device turn on. :)

True. Bear in mind there are about 5000 spaces in the centre, not just the 40 or so you can see in the image. I guess the advantage is they can have the total free spaces at the start of each row. That way when its busy you don't have to drive down each row to find a free spot. It also means they can sync it with an ipad/iphone app giving people an exact map of free spots. I must admit it does remove the stress of looking for a spot.

Explained that way, it makes a lot of sense. Thanks.

If done properly, the app would also allow you to mark your spot so you don't have to hunt for your cars.

Why is it that innovations like this always seem to happen in Australia and Europe, while we Americans just get redesigned parking lots that promote nothing other than congestion and pissed off drivers because there's only one way in and one way out, and it's never where you are?

Sorry - don't mean to derail your thread. LOL

Day 124 (4/5/2013)

In preparation for Orthodox Easter, my wife and mother-in-law were busy dyeing eggs. This is what awaited my son in the morning.

Day 126 (6/5/2013)

It was getting very late in the day and I realised I hadn't taken my daily yet. I have a watch which I love but rarely wear these days, thanks to the invention of the mobile phone!

I took several 'studio' type shots but they all felt like I was creating an ebay ad. I then thought I'd try reverse lens macro and was pleasantly surprised with the results.

Day 127 (7/5/2013)

It was my wife's birthday, so I arranged to finish work about 30 mins early. At 5:30pm I was out the door and 10 minutes later I was at the train station. As soon as I got there I found my train (or so I thought) waiting for me at the platform; how lucky was I??? Unbeknownst to me this train was running express, bypassing my station and several stations after. It took me an hour to get back to my station.

Instead of being 30 mins earlier than usual, I was 30 mins late!
