Going through some of your recent photo's, your improving skills with photoshop, and better glass, the D5100 really overachieves and makes it hard to see where the line is between pro and consumer when the camera is in highly skilled hands.

Or it could be just a really nice camera :friendly_wink:

The D5100 is a great camera. I am surprised by it every time I go shooting. And yes, honing my PhotoShop skills I think is helping. We have a Junior college nearby that teaches commercial art that has a Photoshop class that I hope to be able to enroll in next semester. I have a degree from them in computer programming that I got when I was about 55 but now since I am 62 or over I can go to any 2 year college in the state for free so I plan on taking courses in Photography, Photoshop and cooking. They have a great culinary department.

It is nice to be retired.

One more from the D3100 August 2011

I had shot these in RAW but did not really have the skills to correct them back then. I am going to have to go back and reshoot this fountain now.

Here is my attempt as a panorama. 6 shots total

RTJ.jpg

This is part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trial. This is the Capital Hill course in Prattville Alabama. There are three 18 hole courses at this location with another one under construction now. Alabama's Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail is the largest golf course construction project ever attempted. The Trail is a collection of 468 holes of championship golf on 11 different sites across Alabama. The Wall Street Journal said the Trail "may be the biggest bargain in the country" and The New York Times called the Trail "some of the best public golf on Earth."

All of this is owner by the Retirement Systems of Alabama.

Nice. Only suggestion would be to either use AE-L or Manual exposure as you can see minor changes as you scroll across. Or it's possibly a vignette correction that needed to be applied to the RAW images first?

They were all shot in manual and I used layer blending to get them all as close as possible. I did not use any correcting in raw images because I was not sure they would all match. This is the first time I have ever tried a panorama of this size so it is a learning process. I did do some clone stamp to correct a few areas so that may be the problem. will have ot go back and try again and see if vignette correction will help. I also use the 18-55 kit lens. I think I will use the 40mm macro the next time. It is a better lens and may be better side to side than the kit.
