Don's Old Daily Dabblings

Re: Don's Daily Dabblings

The thing about this image is that a straight B&W conversion (100% desaturation) leaves it rather flat since many of the different color tones have the same grey level on conversion. This is a case where playing with color filters during the conversion would help make some of what would otherwise be dull pop a bit. I still like the color better, but I'm sure playing with it more would change that (left is simple desaturation, right involves color manipulation and desaturation - no other changes to brightness or contrast).

I rarely just de-saturate a photo. They never look good. You have to play with the color filters.

Well if you are going to get pushy and make me think...Here is my crude attempt at converting it to B&W

I retired so I wouldn't have to think anymore.

Nice my crabapple will look like that in about 2.5mnths :p

I have a poor crabapple in the backyard. It is probably 10 years old. The first 5 years I ended up running over it with the lawnmower every summer. It would pop back up. Then we had drought for several years and it barely survived. Last summer it did pretty good. It is probably 3 feet tall now. LOL

Quote from Don "I retired so I wouldn't have to think anymore."

I totally agree, Don. :) However, I'll take it a step further; I refuse to do the thinking for OTHER people! :)

Nice capture, but dammit, even a mediocre capture of a kid enjoying themselves is bliss!! I'm just thankful that I still have hair to throw back. Weeeeeeee!!!!
