its a real old fashion toilet/restroom, special because it was used by abraham lincoln??::what:::D

They look like wooden versions of the ancient Roman latrines. If you ever get a chance, watch the BBC "The Toilet, An Unspoken History." Very interesting, seriously.

Not functional now. They are all filled in under the seat now. I thought it was pretty clever for them to do that in the early 1800s

Nice shots Don! Latrines remind me of my Army days, nothing like privacy :)

I was at Fort Polk in the late 60s. I remember the room full of toilets. Sitting there right next to another guy taking a ____. Took me a while to get used to that. In fact I never did get used to it.

Yea, I was at leonard wood in the 80's, had to be 100 in a line at basic. Never forget those tin barracks in the summer, hotter than hell!
