Don's DJI Phantom 2 & 3 Fun

re: Don's DJI Phantom 2 & 3 Fun

Pretty day to go practice flying. FINALLY
Here are a few that I did shoot while learning to fly. The one with me talking to someone lives on the farm and was leaving and saw me parked on the road to his house. Stopped and asked me what I was doing so I explained to him that I knew the other family on on the farm and that I had permission to be there. Then explained to him that I was practicing flying. He asked me if I ws going to fly now. Had to point about 50 meters up and show him that I already was. He spent about 10 minutes asking questions and trying to figure out how he could get his wife to let him buy one.

Things warmed up enough today I managed to run down two batteries just flying around the local city sports complex. Haven't been up in a month and was itchin' to launch!

I've honestly considered getting a box of business cards printed up with all those questions answered on the back. How much? How far? How high? License? Legal? Take photos or video? See flight on the phone? How easy?

Don, do you have anymore video???

Pat in GA

Not shooting any more video till I figure out software other than PhotoShop to edit with. With Photoshop I can apply lens correction but then i have to render video and that takes hours. There has to be a better way. Photoshop does a great job with the lens correction. It takes all the curve out with no extra tweaking.

And it is not to expensive. So fast to render the video after removing the fisheye?

Depends on your definition of 'fast'. Not having PS, I have nothing to compare it to.

I just ran a quick test of a 2:11 clip and it rendered it in 8:41. That's at the highest of the three choices for quality. Fast? I dunno. When stuff like this takes a while, I just let it run and then go do something else like wash dishes or the laundry. So whether it's fast with that time or slow-as-a-dead-turtle, I matters to me not.

Photoshop is measured in hours and hours for a 3 minute video corrected.

Computer speed should be factored in. I have no clue how 'fast' mine is. All I know (and care about) is that it works.

I have a very fast computer 3+Ghz quad core with 24GB memory. Just did the same video twice. once with lens correction and once with lens and stabilized. going to post both and you can see the difference.

I have no idea what I have. I just told the guy at the computer store when I had it built what I wanted it to do. I have no clue how to find out.

I am a tech nut. Always have been. I started off with a degree in electronics and went into TV before leaving for a life in photography. Left there for computers and went into programming and eventually went on to get a degree in that. now back to photography but just for my fun.

What can I say? I like toys.

I like toys too.

But I like playing and using them. Not dissecting them.

But I did find out I'm at 3gHz and 16g ram.
