I think for every landscape photo in color I take. I am going to look for one I can try in black and white. And then practice practice practice.

I started photography in B&W and really loved it. In fact I still have some on the wall that I did 30 years ago BUT I have yet to do one with my digital cameras that I really like. I think the difference is the texture of the paper when I printed in B&W. Also I think the subject in a B&W shot has to fit that mood.

I admit it is a lot harder than color.

Slow going today. Had to finish the deck today. Also had the wonderful opportunity to get lit up by some very pissed off Yellowjackets yesterday. 5 stings to the right ankle.....spent most of last night on ice.

I love the alpaca in B&W. It's okay in color but has a lot more character and the texture of the fleece on its head stands out more in B&W.

Thanks! I am pleased with the conversion on this one. I just couldn't get the color version to look the way I remember it did when I took the photo.

While I believe my processing in LR4 is improving. No matter what I tried with those outside photos I couldn't really cut down on the harshness of the light.

I am thinking of getting the Nik program for B&W too....
