I started photography in B&W and really loved it. In fact I still have some on the wall that I did 30 years ago BUT I have yet to do one with my digital cameras that I really like. I think the difference is the texture of the paper when I printed in B&W. Also I think the subject in a B&W shot has to fit that mood.
I admit it is a lot harder than color.

Thanks! And yes...ouch was right. But I washed it down with alcohol and got some ice on it right away so no swelling. All in all its ok....the nest should be done in a few days.
I love the alpaca in B&W. It's okay in color but has a lot more character and the texture of the fleece on its head stands out more in B&W.
Thanks! I am pleased with the conversion on this one. I just couldn't get the color version to look the way I remember it did when I took the photo.
While I believe my processing in LR4 is improving. No matter what I tried with those outside photos I couldn't really cut down on the harshness of the light.
I am thinking of getting the Nik program for B&W too....
