D600 -- Which Glass Will You Use With It?

Josh, I think 70-200mm 2.8 is a more useful range than 14-24mm 2.8. You'll definitely get more use from 70-200mm especially with portraits or just the reach. 24mm at FX sensor is plenty wide IMO

So my priorities changed alot...Didn't get 85mm 1.8 nor the Tokina/Nikkor UWA.

Instead, I got the Nikon Nikkor 28-70mm 2.8 AF-D ED. This thing is definitely a beast and much thicker than 24-70mm 2.8.

I got it for $960 and was recently calibrated and replaced with new parts from Nikon. It also has 3 month warranty. IMO, I thought it was a good deal, especially since he showed me that he literally just got it back from Nikon Canada before selling it (plus the 3 month warranty). Can't wait to shoot the beast!

Also, time to sell the 28mm 1.8, too much overlap now..

Nice move.

I purchased a D600 with a 50mm 1.8G prime. For our trip to Hong Kong i just picked up the 16-35mm f4 VR...awesome lens I would highly recommend it.

In the spring I want to pick up a 70-200mm 2.8 to get some shots of my sons first year baseball.

I use AFS 28-300mm VRll. Not very sharp, but i can capture everything, birds, buildings, landscapes. especially with birds, u need to zoom in very fast, difficult to change lenses. do not have to change lenses so i like to walk around with it. ordered a 50mm 1.8G, waiting for that. will use that for low light and portraits.

My copy of the 28-300 is very sharp at 28mm.
This Med size JPEG is from over 300 ft at 300mm and reduced for web uploading and viewing.

I am a proud new owner of a D600, Tokina 16-28mm 2.8, Tamron24-70 2.8 and a Nikon 70-200mm Vll 2.8.

All great lens but one stands out for sharpness, it’s got tobe the Nikon it blows my canon 70-200mm F4 mounted on my 40d out of the water.

Photo of Bella taken with my 70-200 Nikon and yes she's like her owner and loves her food.

Well fed dog!
Looks like a Chow Hound to me.
No match for my 45 lb Beagle though.
He would eat anything including card board if you poured gravy on it.

How fast is your Jack Russell? Buddy could keep up with my mountain bike on a dirt road like forever.
Good reason to use them to chase fox.

I like my Nikkors. Only 3rd party lens I have kept is my 8mm Sigma.

She’ll run all day and fast enough to bail up this threefoot lizard 'again taken with the Nikon' on the town oval.

I have 24-70 on it 98% of the time my 85 1.8 in on it sometimes I rented a 28 think it was a 1.8. Smooth as silk but not as versatile as 24-70 so I did not buy. Going to WPPI will get 70-200 vrII there or when I return

So far... my fx kit is the 24-85 VR kit lens ( which I find a very good lens at that ) and a 70-300 VR along with a 50mm 1.8
I'm hoping to ad a wide 20 2.8 and a 85mm 1.8 in the near future. I also have a sigma 150-500mm which I may sell to fund the primes since I don't use it that much.
I may look into the new 24-120 F4 as a replacement to the kit lens, I've heard a great deal of compliments about it... don't know yet.

We have some of the same glass. I'm considering the 70-200 f4 with a teleconverter.

I just pulled the trigger at B&H for the Nikkor 70-200 VR II. As soon as it arrives the 'Holy Trinity' set will be complete. So :)

I've been upgrading all my glass to FX ready for a step up to FF but now the 7100 has come along! Whichever body I choose i'm fortunate to have the 50mm 1.8, 24-70f2.8, 70-200f2.8vrii and a sigma 120-300f2.8 to pick from. On my recent holiday to Arizona I only took the 24-70 which gave me some stunning shots with my D7k, so the short answer is Nikkor 24-70 f2.8!

I just ordered a d600, I came from a Pentax K20d. This is my first Nikon.

I'm starting with:

AF Nikkor 35mm f/2D

AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G

AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.4G

What I would like to add to the kit someday is:

AF Nikkor 24mm f/2.8D

AF-S NIKKOR
70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II. Although to save some money I might go to

AF Zoom-Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8D ED. I've read some great reviews and it seems like this lens is half, for what I want I think it would suit better.
