Must be a fake since Cuban sticks are illegal in the States. They sure are tasty, though!! 😎

Must be a fake...

BTW its now legal to travel to Cuba and bring back $100 worth of Cuban goods (including cigars). My guess is the author made a trip to mexico knowing this info and brought that to the states legally ;-)

Cuban friends used to bring me a box of Cohibas for $75 and could re-sell them for as much as $600.

The price would go higher as latitude went north.

You have to be aware of counterfeits. I knew a guy that would buy genuine Cohiba bands for $10-$25. Then he would put them on a phony Cohiba and sell it to some sucker. (That guy actually went to prison for murder in Delray.)

Great catch up. Nice clear shots and very interesting to see your macro settings. I have the same lens and not getting these results

Great fun in the snow shots David especially the 2 portraits :D

Thanks, V! Tons of fun for the kiddos, but a ton of shoveling for the old man. 😜

Thanks, Lawrence. I'm really digging the Tamron lens! So far, it's really just guess work on my part to get the shots. Some have worked and some not so much. Usually about a 1 in 10 keeper ratio; and that's just fine by me for now. Keeps the old noggin active trying to figure it out. LoL.

Are you using any lighting with your macros?
I am struggling to get sharp shots from close - the ones where the eyes are so dominant - due to shallow DoF. To increase this a smaller aperture should help a bit but then there is less light.

Yes sir. I've been using off-camera flash and sometimes fix the lighting depending on the subject and the effect that I want to get. I don't know if my technique is actually correct or what so I would call the proper way to do things, but some of them seem to be working for me so that's just fine. When I set up in my shop for another shot I'll try to get a picture of what I'm using and how. Maybe that would help? I'm definitely no expert but willing to throw my two cents in anytime if it would help someone else.

What subjects are you trying to shoot in macro? Insects or inanimate object's like flowers? Are you shooting indoors or out?

All of the above and then some. :)

Outdoors mostly and trying to get insects but also using flowers to see what I am doing wrong. Any bit of wind and the shot is impossible.

Yesterday I was using a flash and found that there was a delay between pressing the shutter and the flash firing. No idea why that happened.
