Calla Lily - Day 42 of 42

View attachment 3465

I see one part of this shot that's in focus.

Originally I was going to post a different shot of these flowers. I had one set of bracketed shots and loaded them for HDR in Photomatix. The wind was lightly blowing, so the right side did not line up. I looked at it for a while and decided the effect would generate some interest or questions. I thought it was surreal to have some of the blossoms in focus while others were weirded out, so I posted it.

The iris is pretty, Chris. I would just crop in more closely and take out the "funky" stuff. It's distracting anyway. If there's any kind of breeze or movement and you're shooting for HDR, up the step between exposures so that you can end up with 3 fshots. Less chance of ghosting and easier to deghost if you get some.

Chris I would have to agree with Jack, Helene, and Jen it does look funky on the right side but this is a beautiful flower I love the iris, just crop it much more tighter and you will get the effect you are looking for.

V Is it tilting a little to the left? (and no, I haven't been drinking . . . yet )

Looking at the other shots I took of this scene, it looks like I have it straight; however since you mentioned the tilt it appears that it is. It almost gives me a sense of vertigo, so I am going to stop looking at it.

Thanks for the nice comments by you, Jen and Ken

I think you did a great job of giving a sense of area perspective to this shot. I can almost feel myself standing at the slight incline in this picture.
