Don I think you might be getting too warm down there so here's some photos of my world up here Yesterday a high of -5C but the sun blindly bright and sun so hot that even though stayed below freezing temp the snow was melting like crazy. I got some snow blindness because my sun glasses were not dark enough but dark glasses make it difficult to use view finder.

Morning view behind me as I took photo of the city
NIK_5516.jpg

A trip to one of the 6 city snow dump piles I thought Don would find interesting.
Right downtown city centre they plow to the middle of the road and then dump trucks carry the snow to one of these piles so city centre sidewalks are fairly clear. This is no great image it simply shows the size of the snow mound at this particular snow dump pile in comparison of street lights

Same snow dump pile (snow pile is just behind trees) but you can see most of the pile in comparison to a dump truck just leaving the area

But on the plus side of snow, kids taking an afternoon walk with snow shoes at school

I'm way behind so here's some photos I took last week but then didn't get through because too much time on the snow without my darkest sunglasses gave me sun blindness Blah
My pups were happy I was feeling better and ventured outside for play time not just chores

My pups at play
Catching the action of them at play has been something I've been working on since I got my camera 14mnths ago but almost always end up with not quite in focus photos. On this day the bright sun and highly reflective snow helped me.
So most shot at ISO 200, f10 and 1/2500

I never bring my camera when actually going out for chores but was brave today and brought my baby out while I fed my critters
So my view at afternoon chore time
It's snowing outside so Martin was snuggled down inside
NIK_5750.jpg

Freckle nose not interested in anything except where is the Hay LOL
NIK_5755.jpg NIK_5757.jpg NIK_5758.jpg

Hay
NIK_5765.jpg NIK_5766.jpg

Notice where hooves are and where my bottom fence rail is they're standing on about a foot (30cms) of hard packed snow
NIK_5776.jpg

These old guys spent most of their lives in a breeding herd and really are just not interested in human attention at all however they will come close for food (go figure)
So here I am standing holding a flake of hay in one arm, crazy goats climbing up my side and up back nibbling my hair and getting into my pockets while Alpacas bravely get some hay from my arm
NIK_5783.jpg NIK_5787.jpg

Why they are always covered in hay is because they think the best hay is underneath LOL
NIK_5794.jpg

EEK! This is why I do not bring my camera to do chores oh the dust ahhhh!

I don't think it's anything you're doing. I've had all sorts of problems since the server move, but up until today, your stuff locked up my internet. I disabled my add-ons and now everything appears to work, but it's really, really slow.

Hope you're feeling better.

Hey Snaphappy, love the Raven shots but have to say you probably picked the hardest of birds to shoot....black birds and animals are VERY hard to get good shots of because it's hard to pull up the detail. Stick it against a white background and you've just made it twice as hard. So I think you've done VERY well :)

Yes Burli only had his collar on while he was home alone Marilynne so he wouldn't lick the first couple of days. He's fine but he is an extremely high energy dog and keeping him calm has been a NIGHTMARE! I give up he's healing well and is much happier being free in the yard to play so we'll just keep watch on him. He loves the snow and I do mean he absolutely loves the snow :)

I don't know but whenever I load my photos on here they seem to get dark but in my original I can actually see myself in the Ravens eye. My kids think I'm insane taking photos of them but we don't have many birds up here right now. The ravens are insanely intelligent and get huge. They are really hard to outwit but they are sneaky and murderous especially in spring. In town they get quite close to people and are protected but outside city limits they are fair game to livestock owners and they are vary wary. They can hang out all they want in town and eat up garbage because they are very unwelcome at my house. I have seen an awful lot of young ones this winter so they must have had a great hatching last spring I'm not looking forward to trying to thwart them this Spring :(

I have started to get used to shooting against white background and practicing shooting Burli has helped my black animal shots I think :) The first Raven on the rail got chased away by the one that is in the other 2 photos
